The Fully Integrated Solution

Custom Applications from Gatso USA

Congestion Charging

The camera captures vehicles that have not paid to enter busy city centers at peak times of day.

Smog Charging

The camera captures vehicles that have not met emissions testing as they illegally enter a city.

Ramp Metering

The camera captures tailgating vehicles entering arterial highways when the traffic signal on the ramp is red.

Access Control

The camera plus an authorized list of license plates provides vehicle screening and controls parking lot access.

Parking Lot Speed Control

Speed cameras, at strategic locations within the parking lot, will capture dangerous, speeding drivers.

Block The Box

Camera captures vehicles blocking cross-traffic at high volume intersections.

The Gatso Red Light Camera Databar Explained

The Gatso data bar provides 17 absolute data elements relating to the violation, superimposed in the picture at the time of the violation inside the camera itself. The data bar and image are treated as one co-joined component as they are transmitted in encrypted format to the data processing center.

  • Image and data-bar tied together AT THE TIME OF violation, inside the camera itself
  • Sequential event number on each image-set
  • Bullet proof CHAIN OF EVIDENCE
  • Date and time of violation -- plain English and easy to read
  • Sequential event numbers - means no hiding of poor images
  • Distance to second shot - completely configurable
  • Delay time - completely configurable to match your exact needs
  • Accurate speed - born from your choice of in-ground loops or non-invasive LTR

The data-bar is attached to the photo image in the camera, all in real-time. The Databar includes red and yellow times — to the hundredth of a second.

True Speed

Gatso USA is the only company that uses a detection device that is capable of providing “true speed”. True speed is only possible when multiple speed measurements are taken - only our radar based vehicle detection system does this. Other companies’ non-invasive vehicle detection systems using side-of-the-road laser, forward facing laser, video, and in-road hockey pucks only supply a single speed measurement. Single speed measurement systems cannot provide true speed.

Traffic Light Timing

It is important to note clock displays in our data bar are to hundredths of a second as compared to many systems which are to tenths of a second.

Court cases can be lost when only tenths of a second are displayed. Imagine a violator contesting his ticket on the basis that the data bar in his image shows his 4 second yellow time to be actually only 3.9 seconds. Sympathetic judges have been inclined to dismiss tickets because of a proven short yellow time. The Gatso system is able to display that time as 3.99 seconds thus resulting in the same judge likely sustaining the citation.

Less than 1% False Triggers

Unlike laser and video detection systems, a radar-based detector as used by Gatso is not affected by changes in ambient light or weather. Rain, snow and fog can falsely trigger video loops and bend and deteriorate laser beams. No matter when the violation occurs; day or night, summer or winter, dry or wet; the system accuracy of the Gatso solution remains exactly the same.

12-bits provides an image 16 times more powerful

In simple terms - using the 12-bit power of the imaging CCD inside the Gatso GS11 camera allows us to look at 4096 slices of the same photograph from completely black to completely white, whereas an 8-bit camera used by our competitors can only give you 256 slices of the same image. The GS11 camera provides a total of 68.7 billion colors and delivers significantly better images, resulting in license plate recognition even under poor lighting conditions.

Integrated Data Protection

At the very moment the violation event occurs and an image is created, the Gatso camera integrates the data bar to the image. Fourteen key data points surrounding a specific violation are attached to the bottom of the photo at the time of image capture. The uniqueness of this function is only possible with a purpose-built camera for photo enforcement like the GS11 designed and built by Gatsometer. The camera and data bar generating computer are built into a single unit. Off the shelf consumer cameras from Nikon and Canon cannot provide this function.

Integrated Data Protection

Equally important is the fact that the Gatso databar is attached to the photo and not embedded into the photo. Embedding a databar, as done by several vendors, is born from image manipulation; something that cited owners/drivers and intelligent defense attorneys will latch onto when contesting tickets.
