Q: We're not a big city. Why do we need a traffic enforcement camera system?
A: No matter what size your community is, chances are your police force can't enforce traffic laws everywhere, all the time. By using Gatso's cameras and detection devices, you're multiplying your traffic enforcement resources without adding to your budget. Meanwhile, your officers can be freed from many routine traffic duties in order to perform other tasks in which their presence is essential.
Q: How much would we need to budget for a Gatso system?
A: Zero dollars. There is no cost to the community for the installation, operation, maintenance, or any other aspect of a Gatso system. We recoup our costs through a percentage of fines collected.
Q: But once your system catches someone speeding or running a red light, we still have to issue the citation, don't we?
A: No. Our end-to-end system captures violations, matches license plates to DMV records, issues citations, and even collects fine payments. How's that for full-service?
Q: The city would like to review and approve all citations. Does your processing system provide for this?
A: No need to be concerned. Before we send out the citations, they'll all be made available online for an authorized city representative to approve.
Q: Didn't I read somewhere that these automated enforcement systems usually lose if a case goes to court?
A: If a case was lost, you can be sure it didn't involve Gatso. There are two reasons. One is that our chain of evidence is tamperproof. All the data regarding the violation — time, date, speed, direction, etc. — is superimposed on the captured image and digitally signed and encrypted, in accordance with international standards, at the moment of image capture.
Q: What's the other reason?
A: We've never ever lost a case in court.
